The post-purchase class was created with the idea that home maintenance and repairs can be costly. It often prevents homeowners from making timely mortgage payments. For this purpose, NHS developed a hands-on-lab where homeowners can work with basic tools and physically experiment with materials involved in home maintenance repair.
The ability to distinguish between urgent and not-so-urgent repairs can make a big difference. Also, being able to do minor repairs yourself can save a lot of money for families living on a modest income. The post-purchase training focuses on financial responsibilities and basic maintenance methods. Predatory lending awareness is covered in both pre and post-training sessions. The curriculum of this class is reflected on the class agenda.
