NHSSA Executive Director Chris Sanchez Steps Down from Post
NHSSA announces today that, after three years of strong leadership, Christopher W. Sanchez has made a decision to step down from his role as Executive Director, effective July 15, 2022.
“It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as the Executive Director of Neighborhood Housing Services of San Antonio, Inc. for the past 3 years. I have been blessed to have worked alongside a great team of dedicated professionals who fulfill the mission of our organization, on a daily basis” stated Mr. Sanchez. “The role of a non-profit, Executive Director, is complex and very demanding. After a lot of careful reflection and consideration, I have decided that it is time for me to pass the reigns to the next leader who can guide the organization forward and into the future.”
“Chris has always had the best interest of NHSSA at heart and will continue to assist the Board of Directors and staff during this critical transitionary period,” Stated Gene Bargas, NHSSA Board Chairman. The NHSSA Board of Directors thanks Mr. Sanchez for doing such an exemplary job as the Executive Director and we wish him all the best in his future endeavours. The NHSSA Board of Directors will soon launch a national search to identify a new permanent Executive Director.
NHSSA has nearly a 40-year presence in San Antonio and provides important and valuable housing related services to the low and moderate income residents of this community. Under Sanchez’ leadership, the organization elevated its local reputation, while expanding its business relationships locally, regionally and nationally. During his tenure, NHSSA has strengthened its staff and board capacity, focused on resource development, increased its production of affordable homes for purchase through its construction and rehab programs, and created an affordable rental housing portfolio.
As a Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) and the only housing non-profit in San Antonio with a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) certification, NHSSA is focused on maximixing its impact and growing its lending activities throughout Bexar County.
If you have any questions during this transitionary period, please do not hesitate to contact Gene Bargas at firstname.lastname@example.org. He will be the interim executive director during the organization's national search process.
