NHSSA has welcomed Christopher W. Sanchez as our New Executive Director.
We are pleased to announce that Christopher W. Sanchez has been hired as the new Executive Director for Neighborhood Housing Services of San Antonio. Mr. Sanchez has been working in the community development and affordable housing sector for over 20 years.
Prior to coming on board with NHSSA, Mr. Sanchez spent several years working with The National Association of Latino Community Asset Builders – NALCAB. In that role he was an integral part of its formative growth and success. During his tenure with NALCAB, he served as a Senior Director and helped initiate many of their programs. Mr. Sanchez was part of the team that managed a $137 Million HUD Neighborhood Stabilization II Grant. He also helped develop and implement their HUD Technical Assistance platform – where he was responsible for managing staff and consultant partners in order to deliver federal TA to various municipal, state and rural entities. These TA programs are awarded nationally by the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development and more commonly known as, ONE CPD, Community Compass and Rural Capacity Building Technical Assistance. Mr. Sanchez also helped NALCAB to establish their lending platform which seeks to increase the capacity of their member organizations by infusing new sources of capital into their balance sheets. His ability to develop strong and lasting partnerships helped NALCAB to solidify their place as a leading national membership entity.
Mr. Sanchez is a man of strong faith and he has learned the importance of maintaining Christ centered values, along the way. He is a graduate of the University of New Mexico. He is the proud Grandson of former farmers from Hatch, NM and former small business owners from Las Cruces, NM. He attributes his success to the diverse upbringing and strong values - which were instilled in him at an early age by his mother. After finishing his undergraduate studies, Mr. Sanchez went on to become a Woodrow Wilson National Fellow; attending an intense Public Policy Institute at the University of Texas @ Austin, LBJ School of Public Affairs. This training prepared him for the complex work associated with affordable housing development. Mr. Sanchez and his beautiful wife, Yvonne, are the proud parents of 4 children and they have resided in San Antonio, Texas for the past 11 years.
NHSSA Community Partners
BBVA Compass has been a long time partner with NHSSA. They gave us the opportunity to join in their Center for Financial Education. With their contribution to our HUD approved "First time Homebuyer Education Class", we have the opportunity to reach more and more families and communities in achieving the American Dream of home ownership.
Thank you for allowing us to host the "Project Blue Elf" event. It was a success and we reached more families in our neighborhood. Congratulations to Maria Del Carmen Gomez, who was the recipient of the "Big Gift", provided by BBVA.
We look forward to continuing our partnership in 2020.
